ESCO University by Berliner Energieagentur GmbH

The Energy Efficiency Watch Initiative recently stated “the market for third party financing schemes such as EPC (or contract energy management) has grown in the recent years. More and more enterprises and public administrations are completely outsourcing their buildings assets or facility management including maintenance to ESCOs”.

However, when we look at individual markets, it is clear that Europe’s ESCO’s are not developing in the same pace. Germany, for instance refers to itself as a mature market. In The Netherlands, although a lot of energy efficiency projects are deployed, the principle of an Energy Service Company is not commonplace. Nevertheless there are promising potentials for ESCO services in whole Europe. This compounded with the continual question of “What exactly is an ESCO” has led us to introduce the ‘ESCO University’.

In cooperation with the Berliner Energieagentur Gmbh, we will offer 6 hours training into the basic principles of an Energy Service Company and their objective.

Course Outline:
- Overview of the market in Europe
- Potentials for and benefits of ESCOs
- Introduction in ESCO Schemes
- Differentiations between operation, delivery and performance contracting
